Sam's Picks: Seafood-Themed Holiday Gifts in Sandwich

Holiday shopping feels more challenging than ever this year, and if you're a procrastinator, longer shipping for online orders isn't making your life any easier. The great news is, we live in a town with amazing local retailers stocking everything you need for your list—and as a result of pandemic-related closures and restrictions, these local businesses could use some extra support. Just for fun, we've compiled a list of seafood-themed gifts featuring some of our favorite sea creatures and shellfish, all of which you can find right here in Sandwich. So say goodbye to shipping and show these local businesses some love!

2021 Year Of The Lobster Calendar

2021 may technically be the Year of the Ox, but for seafoodies, just about every year is the Year of the Lobster. Help them show their love for the crustacean they crave with this fun calendar by the locally famous artist Cabo Cado, and you'll have them counting down the days until their favorite seafood restaurant opens up again (it's March 1, wink wink).

Cranky the Cape Cod Clam book

The scene is a bright and happy one: children having fun on a sandy beach, playing all day under the sun. But beneath the surface, quite literally, there's a grumpy clam who never comes out to play. In this heartwarming new children's book, called Cranky the Cape Cod Clam, Falmouth author Beckey Randazzo reveals how the power of kindness and friendship can change a once-cranky clam's perspective on life. Randazzo hopes that by reading it, kids will be inspired to be kind to others who are sad and lonely like Cranky.

Perfect for the hostess, beach bum, or shellfish connoisseur, this three-piece set includes a milk-glazed terra cotta cheese plate resembling a scallop shell, a cheese spreader and 12 cocktail napkins that say "Meet me at the beach." It might not be beach weather, but with a little coastal charm, we can pretend our feet are in the sand—can't you feel the warm summer breeze?

2020 Holly Days Ornament: The Scallop Shell

Each year, Sandwich residents await the release of a new holiday ornament crafted by our local McDermott Glass Studio, as part of the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce's monthlong Holly Days events. This year's creation takes a familiar shape: the scallop shell, a native shellfish known as a symbol of light. Each ornament is handblown, numbered and signed by the artist.

Seafood Sam's Gift Card

That's right—if you're buying for a true seafood lover, they won't accept anything less than the real deal. While we are closed for the season, a gift card to the restaurant makes a great stocking stuffer and can help them look forward to their next meal when we open. We promise, March 1 will be here before you can say "fried whole clams"! (Okay, maybe not quite…)
